- Come to class having contemplated the following questions:
- What do you consider elements of quality care when receiving healthcare services?
- What do you consider elements of quality care as a professional nurse?
- Are the two similar or different?
- In your blog (Reflective Journal), Record your opinions concerning the above questions in your reflective journal.
Steps in auditing quality control (establish control criteria, identify the information relevant to the criteria, determine ways to collect the information, collect and analyze the information, compare collected information with the established criteria, make a judgment about quality, provide information and, if necessary, take corrective action regarding findings, and reevaluation) guide the elements of quality care. It is important to note that quality control should not be implemented solely as a reaction to a problem. Elements of quality should be based around ANA standards and evidence based practices. Elements of quality care when receiving healthcare services include prompt, informative, accurate, top of the line, evidence based, etc. Elements of quality care as a professional nurse includes providing all the above stated things. The only way that can happen is if the nurse stays up to date on their education and works with management to ensure quality. The goal of quality care should be the same for the nurse and those receiving healthcare services. However, sometimes the way to fulfill quality care is different for how the nurse and patient see it. Depending on different situations quality care for receiving healthcare services and providing healthcare services may be similar or different.
